SHMEET THE ARTIST
HOW SHME CAME TO BE
Growing up Shme found herself drawing on anything and everything. Constantly involved in sports, she loved finding uique ways to express her creativity in her down time.
In her early high school years Shme came across an image of a pair of shoes that had been drawn on with Sharpies and the creative inspiration for custom footwear was born. To avoid ever having the same shoes as others in her school, she began to design and paint her own sneakers. The more she painted, the more word spread and orders began flowing in.
Shme took a break from customizing when she attended Penn State University on a field hockey scholarship to pursue her BFA in Fine Art. Once she graduated her passion for custom footwear was reignited and she began to hone her craft. Countless hours of trial and error, obsessive attention to detail and an understanding of great design, has brought Shme Customs to where it is today.

ACE OF CUSTOMS COMPETITION AT SNEAKERCON LA
In conjunction with BET Experience, sponsored by Sprite
In June of 2014, Shme was invited to participate in the Ace of Customs competition at Sneakercon. The competition was a part of the BET Experience and was sponsored by Sprite. Each artist was given a theme representing a campaign that Sprite was running at the time -- 'Sprite is basketball, music and style'
Shme was given the category of style and landed on a Keith Haring theme for her shoes. The artists in the competition were each given 5 hours to paint a pair of bright orange Lebron 11 Lows.
